A Child’s Battlefield

Remember the days of playing in the rain, without a care in the world? (100 word entry.)

Pitter patter, pitter patter
Droplets of water pelt down from above
Tiny missiles aimed at the ground below
They race each other to my umbrella
But arrive too quickly to tell who won
They join at their destination below
Puddling under my tiny boots
I leap forward
The water shoots up
But my oversized raincoat protects me
From the explosions at my feet
I twirl my umbrella
Flecks of water fly in all directions
I jump from puddle to puddle
Creating a minefield of explosions
I have no cares for my muddy clothes
Only for my battle with the rain.
