Interview with Gypsies

“Okay if I take your only child to visit gypsies on Hotel Street? I have this paper I have to write, and …” 100 words

When Kehau and I arrived on Hotel Street I expected to find people who were swarthy, wore bandanas, had gold fillings in their teeth, wore boldly colored skirts if women, open-to-the-waist pirate shirts if men, told fortunes, were expert at picking pockets, casting spells, stealing babies.

Did Kehau say to my parents, “Okay if I take your only child to visit gypsies on Hotel Street? I have this paper I have to write, and …” If she asked and they said yes, then they were a lot cooler than I remember them being at that point in my life.
