Year of the Dragon - October entry. 100 words: "Unsaid things," "The Will of the Gods." The land accepts the life-giving rain. Seasons can be known, but the human heart cannot.

As days grow shorter
And the nights cool
One will put on the kikepa
And lead the procession in white.
Ho'okupu will be set upon stone
To ask for blessings of peace and rain.
He will read the sky, wind and clouds;
The circumabulation will begin.
It is no path where I am welcome.
Still I yearn to understand, to offer a gift--
If I were not so callow;
If my blood were right.
My hands remain turned to the earth
My mouth holds the shapes of the stars.
As the oli fades on the wind
All is quiet.

I love this...especially the last part, it's just beautiful and there's a hint of conflict.

"Still I yearn to understand, to offer a gift--
If I were not so callow;
If my blood were right.
My hands remain turned to the earth
My mouth holds the shapes of the stars.
As the oli fades on the wind
All is quiet."
