Subtle Surrender

Published by ARTIEWRITES | Thursday, October 22, 2015 8:18 AM

A few words for every dead breath I take. Truly, I will never forget my first love.

To this day, I don’t know how we got here
to this day, I still can’t even forge a word about it
It was a civil war for a cause,
What it was, I’m not sure if we even knew anymore
and even if we did, I saw your subtle surrenders.

Your eyes - white flag;
gunshot execution style.
Your kiss - white flag;
frags and grenades explode.
Your time - white flag;
tomahawk to my spine.
Your touch - white flag;
knife in my chest.
Your fight - white flag.

You surrendered
but I was the only casualty.
