100 words for October.

When I was little, Grandma’s birthday was on October 8. Mom would say, “Grandma’s a true Libra.” Upon Googling “Libra characteristics” I learned that Libras are fascinated by the balance and symmetry and hate being alone.

After Mom passed away, Grandma changed her birthday to October 7 so it would be exactly a month before Mom’s birthday, a day reserved for the celebration of life brought to a halt upon her sudden death.

“You can’t just change your birthday,” my aunty scolded.

Grandma shrugged. “Who cares?”

Though I cared, I remained silent and contemplated changing my birthday, too.
