The Wall Has Ears

Published by JIM HARSTAD | Thursday, December 07, 2017 9:12 PM

100 words for December

Or is that plural: The walls have ears? Or both?
Or neither? (How could a wall have ears?)

Listen, I’ll tell you how.
A recent Star-Advertiser story said
our President will now allow parts of elephants
to be brought into our country as trophies.

One wonders which parts? Tusks, certainly.
Entire heads? Unlikely. Too unwieldy.
Ears? Why not?

But where to display?
A large wall, clearly.
Which large wall?
The one Mexico hasn’t built yet.
The “Ich bin ein Mexikaner” wall,
The “Mr. Trumpachev, tear down this wall” wall.

You know the wall,
The one with elephants’ ears.
That wall.
