100 words, March 2018 (Women’s Rights Month)

Long time ago, girls only good fo marry off. Like one ox. Can work or can sell. If you no can work, you gotta marry. Maybe if his family rich, can get one ox. Father wanted a boy to teach how to read and write. Mother had big ideas. Big feet, gotta work in the rice fields like her. So she told the old ladies to bind my feet. So I pray. I pray husband come. Ah Goong came. Old, but I happy, I got husband. But then he said, “Sandalwood Mountains…” No, no. I no can!

No can help.
