Why did childhood have to end?

Sitting by a shallow koi pond, I take a couple minutes to reflect on my life. From my first day of Kindergarten, where I wouldn’t let go of my mom’s leg, pleading for her to stay. The first day of elementary school, my first crush in the 4th grade, to the first day of high school where it took a little while, but I discovered who I am today. I look towards the future, college, and the rest of my life. As memories flash before me, why did my childhood have to end?
