Today's word is

time

Use it in a piece or to inspire a piece, of any kind, then post that piece on the Bamboo Shoots page. We'd love to read what you write : )

Here's mine for today

Hawai'i Sonnet 93 (A precious few)

This movie shows, unwinding
this life, the action, no matter how time
may seem at times, is always inevitably linear,
this actor a prisoner of the celluloid,
moving inexorably forward to the last frame --

the spoon stirs the cup
clockwise or counter,
it swirls down the seconds --

inescapable march of time, my reel
can’t be rewound and played over,
and even if I wonder about it, stop stirring
just to see, the seconds run on --

the thread unspooling, with each stitch, my life raveled up,
a crazy quilt finished soon as it’s done.
