Yesterday
was dreary rain
the clouds were gray and gloomy
Today the skies
are clear again
a thousand moons are blooming
Yesterday
the trees were bare
abandoned and forsaken
Today a song
is in the air
a thousand butterflies awaken
Yesterday
her empty arms
reached out in need of holding
Today she smiles
her tears are warm
a thousand prayers unfolding

Somehow Juiiet Kono's blog entry got lost as a response to a previous one. I didn't want anyone to miss her book recommendations.
"Besides buying Bamboo Ridge Press books for your Christmas presents for friends and family members here and far away (far away is good, to give them the nostalgic, pining-for-Hawai'i moments), I thought of sharing a couple of other books with you: by Junot Diaz "The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao," by Elizabeth Strout, "Olive Kitteridge," by Bill Bryson, (forgot title) a dictionary about science for the science buffs, and "The Iconic House," if you like architecture. Let me know if you pick any of these up and like it.
Teachers, a must read is Romano's "The Authentic Voice." It is timeless. How wonderful if we could teach in this way. (Big Sigh!)"

Tell me the stories,
once forgotten,
of a long lost
paradise.
Show me where all the stars have fallen,
before the sun sets in your eyes.
Sing me a love song
for yesterdays -
Days of sunlight
and clear, blue skies.
Play me a melody that never fades away
until the sun sets in your eyes.
I'll play a melody
when evening calls -
We'll drift away
on a sea of lullabies.
I'll sing a love song as shadows fall,
and watch the sunset in your eyes.
...and watch the sunset in your eyes.

And nine BR authors from issue #94 appeared at the Native Books reading on Sunday, Jan 24th. What a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon! Can you name them all?
